Transferring domain names to Name.com is easy! Before transferring a domain to Name.com, the following requirements will need to be met:

  • The domain must be older than 60 days
  •  The domain cannot have been transferred to the current registrar within the last 60 days
  • The domain must be unlocked at the current registrar
  • Since the Administrative contact email address will be acquired from the registry for the final approval, any private or hidden whois service will need to be disabled. You can check to see if it is enable by doing a whois lookup on the domain. If it is enabled, you can disable it through the current registrar.
  • The domain's authorization code will need to be acquired from the current registrar.

Once the domain is eligible for transfer, please follow the instructions below to initiate the transfer:

1. Log into your Name.com account and click the 'Transfers' link in the footer of the page OR click on the "Domains" button, next to the Name.com logo on the top and click "Transfers" in the drop-down. If you do not have an account, you can create one here.

2. Enter the domain and authorization code into the correct fields and click the 'Add' button. Note: you can transfer multiple domains by clicking the 'Bulk Transfer' link.

This will bring you to the checkout page where you will pay for the transfer(s). Then, you will receive an email from Name.com to approve the transfer of your domain.  This email will contain a link to your Name.com account and a page where you can give that approval and submit the transfer.  After the transfer request is submitted, the transfer will take 5 to 7 days to complete.
