In order to transfer a domain name away from Name.com, three things need to be done from within your Name.com account. The domain(s) will need to be unlocked, any private whois will need to be disabled, and you will need the authorization code for the domain. You can do these three things by following the instructions below.

Unlock the domain:

1. Log into your Name.com account and click the 'Account' button at the top of the screen

2. Click the domain you wish to unlock

3. Click the padlock icon to the left to unlock the domain.

Once that is done, you will see the private whois status at the top center of the screen. If is shows as enabled, just click the 'Disable' radio button to disable. lastly, you will see the authorization code of the domain directly below. It is labeled 'Auth Code'. We recommend copying and pasting this in order to ensure that the code is correct. Once you have followed these steps, the domain(s) is eligible for transfer to the new registrar and the transfer should complete within 5 days.
